GROUNDED

A weekly practice for men who are done being consumed by the feed.

This is not a Bible study. This is not a tech-detox program. This is training in attention.

Not a Bible study. Not a tech-detox product. Training in attention — one hour a week with brothers.

Every week, a small band of men gathers for 60 minutes. Phones go in a lockbox. A beeper sits on the table — for emergencies only, so wives and kids can reach us. We read one passage of Scripture aloud. We sit in silence. We share what we heard. We commit to one thing — one specific, measurable step to reclaim our attention from the algorithm.

No screens. No sermons. No curriculum. Just men, a text, and silence.

Phones go in the box. The lid closes. For the next hour, the most powerful distraction machine ever built is just a brick in a drawer. Twenty minutes of slow reading — a short passage, read slowly, in four passes: read, reflect, respond, rest. Mostly, you sit in silence.

We need each other. We need leaders — men who will model for their children what it looks like to be present, to be still, to be human in an age of artificial everything.

Our sons are watching. Our daughters are watching. The algorithm is not raising them. We are.

One thing this week. Checked next week.

The Q carries the beeper. The leader for the coming week — the “Q” — carries the beeper. Their assignment is to walk intentionally without their phone, listening to the lectio divina Scripture, then simply lead the reading and share the words, phrases, and images that stirred in their heart.

Every gathering runs the same way, every week, so no one has to perform and no one has to guess. You just show up. Same time, same place, every week. Two men is a group.

One hour a week. Phones in a box. Scripture read slowly. Men who know your name. That’s all GROUNDED is. Not a program, not a product — a quiet hour, kept with brothers. You are welcome in it.

Not a group chat. One man you respect, one sentence: “I’m doing an hour of silence and Scripture on Thursday. No phones. You in?” One concrete commitment for the week — stated out loud, remembered, and asked about next time. Your attention is yours again.

“…and after the fire a sound of sheer silence.” — 1 Kings 19
